Wedding planning – where to start?
Congratulations – you’re getting married! But your engagement is just the beginning…
Planning and organising a wedding can seem overwhelming – it’s not something you do every day of the week after all. But it’s really not that bad – it’s a really exciting time, one you should enjoy every minute of (well nearly!)
There are lots of lovely professional people out there to help you, and we’ll be introducing you to some of our favourites in future blogs. To get you started though, here are a few key things to think about:
Firstly, decide on your budget.
It all adds up and knowing how much you’ve got to spend is the key to all the decisions you’ll need to make. There are lots of online guides to help you, and many wedding planners also offer advice on budget-setting.
Then choose your venue.
There are so many amazing places for you to celebrate in Norfolk – and don’t forget, you’re no longer restricted to a church or licensed venue (see below!) so think village halls, your own garden or even the beach. Check out our “Places to Celebrate” page for some ideas to get you started.
Now you need to book your ceremony.
Hopefully, we’ve convinced you by now! But if you’re still in any doubt, Celebrant-led weddings are really on trend for 2018 and beyond and give you the freedom to marry absolutely anywhere. The Ceremony People can tell you straight away if your chosen date is available, with no waiting around, so there’s no risk of you losing the booking at your dream venue. And as well as putting you at the centre of things with a personal ceremony that truly reflects the two of you, we’re here to help every step of the way, whenever you need us, including advising on the legal side of things.
And finally –
After you’ve put the kettle on (you deserve a break now!) have a think about the other key things which will all add together to make your perfect day. The dress/suit will obviously feature high on the list, as well as the caterer, photographer, make-up, hair, flowers, cake and decor…
The list seems endless, but we’re here to help. We have a tried and tested list of fantastic suppliers to share with you, so feel free to pick up the phone!
